I realized the other day that it was around this time, July 14, 2016 to be exact, that I departed Texas in my M3 to return to Georgia to continue my job search here. Thinking back, everything is completely different than it was this time last year.

This being oppo, let’s first talk about the car situation. When I got laid off in April of 2016 I had 2 BMWS, a 2012 128i and an E90 M3. Not needing two cars at the moment, I decided to part ways with the 128i. I sold it to a place called Beepi. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Bereft of my 128i, I loaded up the M3 and drove it the 1100 miles back to my parents house.

At that time I was pretty optimistic about everything. I had 2 interviews lined up and both companies seemed really interested.

Well, neither place worked out and I was back to job searching. That was about the most mentally exhausting thing I have ever done.

There were more than one of these my job search isn’t going that well, but you get the picture, it was pretty bleak for me for a while.

Sadly, while all of this was going on, the M3 had to live outside.

That has since been rectified.

Through my job search, I got to drive some truly average cars:

Eventually, all these boring cars did take me to an interview where I was offered a job:

While job searching was miserable, I learned some things along the way.

While I’m still working on the whole starting over thing; I’m not the best at meeting people and making friends so I’m working on that. I at least am back up to 2 BMWs.

I’m not 100% content with everything right now, but I need to remember that change takes time. Look how much different my life is to what it was last year, I’m sure the next year will be filled with more changes for the better.

Happy to see that you are doing much better! It’s tough to see the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to job searching.

I’m glad everything has worked out for you. Even when you think you’ve got more to go, it’s always good to be able to look back on where you came from.

I became a lot more outgoing in college but I think the whole meeting people and making friends is pretty much served to you in college depending on where you go. I too am struggling a bit now that I’m out on my own and a lot of my friends and acquaintances have moved away. Im finding it takes Sometime to adjust being yourself again going from comfortable to completely new situations and around completely new people.

You know, not only do you have much to be grateful for, so do I. Looking back at your posts, I realize that I got to read what was basically a serialized Lifetime movie for free! It had emotional drama, an epic quest into the unknown, and personal growth/epiphany, all with cars!

So yeah, thanks and keep up the good work.
